Petnome Submission Form 2.0 Is Out!

Many of you asked for an easier way to submit data...

...or wanted it to be faster...

...or commented that the form was confusing to use for reporting information to the Petnome Project.

Well, here's proof we're listening :)  Please enjoy the new, Petnome Project Submission Form 2.0!

BUN: Pets and Bloggers

Hey all!

Now that a lot of us are heading back to actual classrooms and dueling these, these, and these monsters instead, things may seem to slow down a bit.  Even yours truly is hitting up the books again...but, it doesn't mean that progress on the Petnome Project, Mistblood, or blogging will cease or slow.  These Wizard101 Projects have partly served as a means for an escape from stress from the real world without having to log in and play.  So, while game time may be shaved down to Pet training, crafting, and gold farming, my community contributions won't.  With school work as a priority, I have a feeling that there will be a larger sense of discipline with whatever I am focused on, and that mentality of "completing something that's started" will integrate itself as a habit.

It's been a pretty busy Wizard' weekend the past few days, mining gold via Wayfinder hats and Coven raids.  Mistblood got his contractual paycheck; for the rest of the gang, some Hatching funds.  What did they do with all that money?

I got some Dragonblades added to my spell collection:

3G Talented Piggle (my Krokotillian and Fallon Deathslinger's 2G Talented Piggle; courtesy of John Lifeglen's Zeus)

5G Frontier Dragon (my 4G Defender Pig and Ronan Dawn's 2G Frontier Dragon)

Speaking of Lord Hunter, the above 4G Defender Pig, here are his parents.  Then check out his manifests!

After ten hatches and a lot of cross-generational breeding, and raising about 8-9 of the offspring to Epic, I finally obtained what I had been searching for ever since the Test Realm went Live!  With a surplus of gold on my other characters, I produced 4 more little Defender Pigs (all 5G), using Lord Hunter and his parent Duke Honey ("eww" "gross" "how could you?!?"  "never eat a furry lollipop"):

These two were the ones that came out decent....

Yes, they look the same, but the manifest order was random; one pig got their Pip O'Plenty first and Spell-Defying last, while the other got theirs in the reverse order.  These will be staying at Ancient until the Test Realm opens again...I'd like to work on Lord Hunter all the way to Epic, since his double Universal Resist is a "sure thing."  I'll be sure to update on what he gets!

Speaking of Epics, I should update my list over there to the right, eh?

Then here are some Pet Drops from the middle of Tree of Life (we fought only Akuji and Youkai):

I'm very happy with getting the Minotaur...now I can try for a solo mix for the Nightwalker, giving the Death Minotaur card!

Oh yeah, and this neat card dropped for me too:

It's supposedly a very rare card, one that I could "trade forum gold for," as the alluring SorceressMiklai from "Hexing Spells and Vexing Tales" put it.  Yep!  She's a new Blogger, and one of the ladies of the newly created group "BACK."  The other, Cassandra Dragonheart, has also joined the Blogosphere with "From the Heart of a Dragon".  I met both of them through our very own Alric Ravensinger.

Speaking of bloggers, our own Heather Raven is the newly appointed Public Relations representative for the Petnome Project!  In addition to helping out with maintaining the site, she'll help keep it fresh and polished by connecting with contributors and community.  It's a wonder how she isn't our H.R. person....hah hah?  Okay, I won't quit my day job.  Anyway, check out the first P.P.P.R. survey here!

Petnome Project: Official Release Date

That's right, it's been a long two months, but now we're ready to roll out and show everyone exactly what the Project is all about!

The final deadline is Monday, July 19, midnight (Pacific Time)

It'll be an ongoing work-in-process, meaning you will see the Petnome Project come together as we slowly complete each puzzle.  But, you will be able to access the information in a neat and organized fashion, with smooth-scrolling sidebars, easy-to-use Navigation bar, and an endless number of paths to surf through (via links).

I'm very happy with the interface, as it doesn't take very long to load between pages (I barely noticed any seams), and satisfied with the fact that there won't be any ads.

Can't wait to publish it!

Petnome Project: Ad and Banner

Gah, Heather Raven's beaten me to the juicy news punch!

But here's one thing she didn't have, muahaha:

Let's see, Ronan Dawn, Fallon Deathslinger, Cassandra Lifecaster, Wolf Bluestone, Malorn Willowshade, Jenna (new friend!), Cassandra Hexthorn, Miguel Wildthorn, Blaze Mistshard, John Spiritshade, Blaze Silverfist, Amber Rosepetal, Kestrel Shadowthistle, Isaac Mistheart, Taryn Dawn, Luke Dragontamer, Kayla (Fallon DS's daughter) and Scarlet (Fallon DS's alt) and a few friends of friends were all there to help out, and were amazingly patient with me trying to get everyone together and organized.  Two and a half hours...I didn't mind too much :)  The point was finishing what we were aiming for, that's all I could ask for!  Well, that and a nice Colossus to ride on as a mount.  Then I'd be really, really happy.  But I digress.

And yes, the "Petnome Project" words are jigsaws!

Petnome Project: "Results" Format (Preview)

Hey all!  I figured I'd share a little bit of what the Petnome Project results will look like when we're compiling all the pieces together!  Take note that this was made from 3 screenshots that I made from my monitor, spliced together, so this won't be the ACTUAL size of the page when we publish it.

To give you an idea of how the page will work, (I've removed the editing bars and headers so you won't find the site just yet) you'll be able to navigate to a page like this Aqua Dragon 57's after selecting the first letter of your Pet's Class ("A" for Aqua Dragon), and then select the name of your pet with the corresponding Pedigree number (Aqua Dragon 57).

That will bring you to the page above.  As you can see, the Default Stat Maxes will be posted on the upper left, the pet's portrait in the center, and any innate cards that the critter gives, at default.

Below the pet portrait will be the Pet School.

Then you have the Petnome Strands (double columns) for Talent and Derby Skills.  In the picture above, I've left the columns Locked, but that is what the Aqua Dragon 57's Genetic Template should look like.

Further down, you'll see a table with the list of the contributors per ability.  Once an ability is confirmed, we will close off credit for any future submissions for the same Talent/Derby Skill for that specific pet.  We may create links to our contributors' blog, Central profile, Diary of a Wizard ConnectX, etc.

The words that I highlighted above in red are the features that will be converted into Links, and have their very own page.  For example, if you click on the Ice School symbol on the site, you will be directed to a page that lists other Ice School pets.  Or, if you clicked on an Unlocked Talent, such as Pip Boost, it will take you to a page that lists all (submitted) pets that have that Ability too.

So far, we may disable comments at the bottom of the site, considering that hundreds of people may view it in post something.  We're trying to keep the site as a Reference tool rather than a discussion board, but we may change our minds.

Right now, we're looking for comments, suggestions, questions, any kind of feedback.

On a personal note, I just want to thank everyone for their patience!  I've literally spent many hours each week searching for the best host for least resources, but a lot of tools have either been great in quality and expensive, or plain Gobbler droppings and free.  The site I've laid my eyes on is the in-between.

Anyway, I'm off for my break in the Spiral!  Let me know your thoughts on the layout!

Advanced Pets: Appreciate the Small Things (Inherited Pedigree #'s)

Over on Twitter earlier today, there were a few Tweets made between my good in-game friends, Fallon Deathslinger and Heather Emeraldflame, expressing their concern about the behavior of Pedigree number(s)--which I will from here on forth denote as Ped#--of higher generation pets, such as the second and third.  There are instances where there is a significant decrease in the Ped# of the offspring.  For example, a 54 (10) parent mixed with a 54 (10) parent has a chance of producing a 48 (0) child.  Before you read on, if you have yet to understand exactly what Pedigree Numbers represent, please visit this page for a thorough explanation.

The drop in the figures may seem disappointing, initially.  After all, we have become so used to thinking that "higher is better," and are mild victims to our natural need and desire for completion.  Generally, that means pursuing for the most beneficial equipment, and in Wizard101, it's about greater values of n, whether that's damage, accuracy, resistance, or Power Pip chance.

Unconventionally, Ped# strays from this concept.  Remember that it only signifies the sum of Rarity Points potentially available to the pet in question.  Thus, when the Ped# of the child is greater than one of the parents', we know that it inherited "rarer" Talents and Derby Skills (i.e. child sports many Ultra-Rare skills while the parent has 2 or 3 Ultra-Rare and the rest are Rare).

But, on Twitter, you said that it's not necessarily a bad thing...wouldn't we rather have a pet with more Ultra-Rare or Epic Talents?

While it is true that the "rarer" the skills, the more powerful or flexible (in terms of what classes are allowed to use) they are, it doesn't mean that they will be useful for your Wizard or Derby Pet.  For example, some pets have the ability to place obstacles across all lanes in the Derby, and those generally tend to be Epic skills.  However, if your pet does not have a protection ability such as Clear (uncommon) or Immunity (ultra-rare), you are giving your opponents a chance to pass you on the second lap if the obstacles are permanent and if the other contestants have protection.

Now, for those of you who don't Derby and/or are more interested in the Talents (beneficial to Pet or Wizard), take a look at the picture down below:

This was taken inside the Hatchery window.  Let's say that we are after a pet that has both Life-Shot and Life-Proof, combined with Pip Boost and Courageous.  Take note of the Rarity Points of the Life-based skills, and compare it to the Talents' rarities on Rusty.  Here's a picture with the Ped# based on Talents only, and a *possible* child:

Keep in mind that this is just a visual; this is not in any way the actual result or process.  This also represents how inheritance of Talents work in the Hatchery.  The child will randomly take 5 Talents from each parent to form its own Talent column.  Note that the child's Ped# is higher than either of its parents; instead of a second Rare slot like the Magma Colossus has, the child has only one Rare Talent.  Naturally, we would assume that the pet has become improved and stronger.  However, that's not the case.

The five Talents taken from the Pixie Queen are not any of the Life-based skills we wanted!  Had the Ped# in the child been one unit higher, meaning all Ultra-Rare skills (30), then there would be ZERO percent chance of the Life boosts manifesting, since the child would require Rare traits for those to unlock.

To obtain what we wanted, we would have needed a baby pet with at most a Ped# of 28.  Thus, in this case, higher Ped# would act against your goals.

Battleblood Updates and News (BUN)

Unless you've been keeping up with my Tweets, you're probably wondering what the Heckhound I've been up to.  Hm...where to start...

Over at my Dropped Pets page, you can see the awesome creatures I've been capturing over the weekend!  Unfortunately, I feel that the Ianthine Spectre was awarded to me prematurely...Fallon Deathslinger is still looking for hers ever since the release of Advanced Pets, sigh...  Tweet her a message to help find that ghost!

Also over the weekend, the Petnome Project was BOOMING with entries, topping off what we already had by another ~400 entries!  We're currently sorting them out, fixing typos, splitting double entries (two abilities in one form, yikes!), and have started putting together some of the pieces.  Fallon Shadowblade of DiaryofAWizard.com has generously offered to host the publication of our findings!  I spent a few hours last night drafting and scratching, and finally produced a frame for Magma Colossus.  Before we release the exact location of the data, we're going to test our Verification methods over a few critters.  So, in no time, you'll be seeing our work in progress once we manage to dive in and clear up some erroneous submissions and start piecing together what's Verified.  While we're on the subject, please welcome Heather Raven to the Petnome Team!  She'll be helping out in "customer" support, answering any questions, asking you our questions, and helping us post results.  Remember, the contest jointly held by The Friendly Necromancer is still running until next Monday, midnight!

While helping Amber Stargem farm for her Ice Birds (which she has yet to find....tweet to go help her too!), I found my green light across the water (Great Gatsby reference):

As an Ice Wizard, I feel more complete!

I'm hoping to finish Page 21-22 of Mistblood tonight...as well as get some training and harvesting (food farming) done, but more importantly, I think the "plot" of the comic needs to get out there.  A lot of help came from the Blogger community to create these scenes, and I know they're just "dying" (inside joke, related to the scenes) to see the story unfold.  So expect, something to pop out tonight!

Some minor bad news:  with all the projects and adventures I have going on at once, I'm afraid I'll have to postpone the 2nd BMC.  I assure you though that the event will make use of its extra preparation time, so expect to be blown away again :-)

Alright, off I go to the comic!  Peace, and Happy Hunting~

Petnome Project: Contest and Requests!

That's right, Wizards and Witches, entering information into the Petnome Project can potentially score you some short-term benefits in addition to the long-term use we'll all make from the results!

The Friendly Necromancer has generously offered to help spruce up the submission count (currently at least 330) through prizes ranging from three (3) Gobbler pets for the Top 3 Submissions (quantity), to consolation (highly beneficial!) prizes for making at least one entry.

If you've made submissions in the past few days, don't worry!  Any contributions made ever since the debut of this Project will be counted towards the grand prizes and the consolation prizes!

The deadline is midnight, June 15!

Remember, we will be checking through every post to ensure everyone is "fair game," so no cloned entries, please!  Also, with a number of results so far, we will test our Verification Phase with all submissions, so we won't have anyone rolling around with fabricated entries ;)

So, if you want a chance at those little, walking red balls, or a potential boost in your income or Elixir collection,  hop on over and help the community!

Petnome Project: Question and Answers

As I was skimming through the Petnome Project database tonight, I came upon a very surprising sight of an elongated spreadsheet cell, containing a few insightful suggestions and questions by a Marcus LegendStrider:

I submitted a few talents / powers from a couple different pets the other day, and have thought about this project since.  I think it's much needed - we have no idea what pet(s) are best to get and breed because we have no idea what they're capable of.  I wouldn't buy a chihuahua hoping that I could train it to pull a beer wagon, or a clydesdale hoping I could train it to catch mosquitoes.

I hope that the results of this project will be made public, and in fact, I think that making the verified results so far public would be a benefit.  Firstly, people would be able to see that this will be open, and people feel more compelled to help something that has already helped them.  Secondly, right now, I have no idea if the talents / powers that I know about have already been reported; I don't know if I'm helping by submitting, or just taking up your time.  Thirdly, if you had the contributors acknowledged by each talent / power as the first one to report it, you might get more people trying to get their name on the page.  I know that you have plans for images (maybe add an image upload for captured screenshots of the pet page - that should help verification a bit as well) and other great presentation, but even providing simple HTML tables with known info is more usable than not having the info at all.

Sorry for the long message, I'll send in more talents / powers as I encounter them.

These were exactly the concerns and thoughts that were running through my mind:  "What would be the most efficient and accurate way to do all this?  How do we get more people?"  Allow me to address each part of your contributory message, Friendly-style:

I hope that the results of this project will be made public, and in fact, I think that making the verified results so far public would be a benefit.

Firstly, people would be able to see that this will be open, and people feel more compelled to help something that has already helped them.

I have just sent a Private Message to Olivia and Jester of Central after reading your comment, Marcus, requesting their permission to allow us to expose their members to PP.  I honestly will say that I'm not exactly a fan of forums in general, mainly because they feel like blog posts all lumped into something called a "thread."  But, in this case where we need a large sample size to reach our goals, I must leave my bias aside and embrace the fact that, in the end, we have a great community between Bloggers, Forum Posters, Site Masters, and Artists.

Secondly, right now, I have no idea if the talents / powers that I know about have already been reported; I don't know if I'm helping by submitting, or just taking up your time.

Contrary to the characteristics of redundancy and pointlessness of "double posts" or "repetition," having multiple submissions from different players will benefit through assurance and correlation.  Because the exact Talents and Derby Skills are arbitrary, or unseen and immeasurable, to us, we must rely on "blind" consensus for the best verification.  Therefore, submitting information on every pet that you have is going to accelerate completion!  To loosely quote one of my favorite movies (it's not even PG-13 rated, so I'm masking the expression):  If you're called a "duck" once, ignore it.  If you're called a "duck" again, confront that accuser.  But if you're called a 'duck" once more, well, it's time to start finding some people on park benches.

Thirdly, if you had the contributors acknowledged by each talent / power as the first one to report it, you might get more people trying to get their name on the page.

I had given this some thought yesterday, as to what further incentive we could incorporate for more submissions.  However, in respect to my response in the last paragraph, every submission is as important as the last.  Rather than have people scatter around trying to be the "first" to raise a certain pet to Teen just to claim pioneer rights on discovering a trait, I would like to focus on the act of contributing as the mentionable quality.  Thus, all contributors to each pet will be credited, but I will denote how many unique submissions that person has made towards that pet.  The more submissions there are by one person for a single species, the more time that they have spent raising one or multiple clones (giving us more confirmation on an individual pet!)  That deserves merit, right?

I know that you have plans for images (maybe add an image upload for captured screenshots of the pet page - that should help verification a bit as well) and other great presentation, but even providing simple HTML tables with known info is more usable than not having the info at all.

Again, going back to "blind consensus" in helping us out, providing bits and pieces off of one or two submissions before the Petnome is complete can cause confusion and lead to inaccuracy, especially if someone happens to mark in the wrong Slot (thereby slowing the process down as we try to re-confirm before we publish early results again).  I believe it would be in everyone's best interest to give everyone the same experience in their efforts to complete the form.   Heck, I'm not going to even look at the data so closely myself to figure out which pets I "can avoid"; I'll just go ahead and submit info in for every pet that I have regardless if there are 2,000 rows of data.  BUT, because Talents and Derby Skills are separate sections, I will be posting pictures using Miguel Wildthorn's format whenever an entire column has been completed and checked.  As for image uploads as a submission, the host we are using currently does not provide that, but we are looking around for other means.

Thanks for the feedback, Marcus!  Don't be "sorry" it was "long"; I wouldn't have asked for different!

-------------

On another note:
Everyone, great job again!  We've hit 270 submissions and counting!

Sloan Shadowstaff - 31 submissions (5/31/10)

Happy hunting!

Advanced Pets Tips: "What Do Those Number(s) Mean?"

To my surprise, it turns out that the answer behind the numbers above our pets is still a mystery to many people, but to be fair, not everyone has spent a lot of time on the Test Realm or with the little critters.  Heck, I remember the rupturing flood that exploded in my mind, gushing out questions upon questions about the purpose and symbolism behind the digits, so I imagine the confusion might have flung some Wizards into the fog when it hit Live Realm.  Let's lift the lid off this wonder, shall we?  I'm going to open up my Pet Page here; please ignore the Paint Shop markings for now:

Today, Bubba will be helping out in Advanced Pets Tips.  As you can see, he has a Pedigree Number of 54 (11).  How did KingsIsle get those numbers??

I want to introduce something I call "Rarity Points" (RP).  These are the tiny circles next to each Talent's or Derby Skill's picture icon.  For example, [TIRELESS] has 3 RP.  The unlocked [ULTRA-RARE] Talent above that also has 3 RP.  These Rarity Points tell us how rare a skill is, with 1 being Uncommon, and 4 being Epic.  Therefore, we can say [HURRY] and [MUTE] are Rare, and [SPELL-PROOF] is Epic, just by looking at the tiny circles.

So...where does "54" come from?  And what is (11)?  The left number (in this case, 54) represents the total Rarity Points your pet has between locked and unlocked skills.  In other words, if you count up the number of tiny circles on all Talents and Derby Skills, whether they're maroon or yellow, you will come to that number.

The "11" represents the total Rarity Points on Talents and Derby Skills that have been manifested, or "unlocked."  Notice that the orange boxes surround Bubba's manifested skills.  Add those RPs up, and you will get 11.

How does this knowledge and the overall Pedigree # help players??  Unfortunately, at this time, I cannot say for sure what the point behind showing us both numbers is, other than raw "surface" comparison about which pets have higher rarity averages.  If we see a pet sporting "80 (32)," we can confidently say that that critter is at Epic level and has only Epic Talents and Derby Skills, for all unlocked or locked abilities; in contrast, a "20 (8)" pet will be one that is also Epic, but has all Uncommon traits for both columns.

Other than that, the mathematics I've looked at, so far, behind our hybrids or offspring all point towards what Miguel Wildthorn has found:  the traits that pass on to the young have random correlation.  By that, I mean that having more Epic skills on one pet does not mean the next generation will have more Epic skills; the only sure thing is that the second generation has a higher chance of getting them.

I do have faith that once we map out a large enough sample of Petnomes in the Petnome Project, we can explore further into whether or not there are formulas behind inheritance of traits.  It's a long, long way to go before this happens, but with the immense and passionate community we have, and with some luck, we'll find these answers soon.  Nevertheless, I hope your stop here has helped extinguish another personal conundrum!

Thanks for your time, and Happy Hunting!

Into the Spiral: Petnome Project

Hey everyone!

From Friendly's suggestion (and as an inevitable project much like ironhawk's guides), I've developed a nice little form for those who want to contribute to the results of mapping the Petnomes (term coined by our very own Miguel Wildthorn, whom I like to call the Mendel of Wizard101), I'd like to present to you, the Petnome Project.  Check it out and be part of the study!

If you'd like to genuinely help out and can *really* commit to working behind the scenes, please let me know!

Advanced Pets Tips: Setting Up Your "Train" Stations

Disclaimer:  Please read this guide THOROUGHLY before using any advice.  Many parts are connected as a whole, so be sure to absorb everything before carrying through.

With limited resources and time, you DO NOT want to end up moving your pets around too often, or training many different pets on a single character!  Putting yourself into either of these situations will only slow you down from carrying out your plans, especially if you do not have unlimited money to buy mountains of Crowns with.  So what do you do to create the most efficient "setup" for reaching your breeding goals?

Note:  Before making any pet transfers to other characters, remember to deplete all Pet Energy on the toons who are removing pets from the Shared Bank.  There is no penalty for placing them in Shared Bank, fortunately.

Each character has their own Pet Energy (PE); the capacity varies based on the character's level.  If you are planning on not using Crowns as often as you did in the Test Realm, you must realize your pets will not level as fast as they did with your free Test Snacks or Pet Elixirs.  Thus, it will take daily training and feeding for roughly half a week before you manage to take them to Adult.  So, there will be somewhat of a limit before you stop training on one character, and much more work before that Pet levels.  Therefore, I stress that you split six of your "target" pets among each of your alternates and main.  If you do not have 6 characters on your account yet, make some new disposable ones as placeholders.

Note:  You do NOT need to be level 7 OR kill Rattlebones to be able to train your pets!

Those requirements seem to apply only to accessing the Pet Pavilion, or mating.  So, all you need is a helpful friend to stand in the Pavilion for you to port over.  Once you enter Pet Park, MARK it.  That way, when you finally have created an Adult that's going to mate, you can teleport Home, deposit/withdraw a pet, make your way to the Minigame Fairegrounds to stock up on Mana, port back to the Pet Park, and MARK it again.

By "target" pets, I mean the ones with abilities that interest you, whether it be the Talents or Derby Skills.  There isn't an effective point with spending PE on a pet that doesn't even have a skill that you want to see in later generations.    I want to reiterate what Miguel Wildthorn posted on Friendly's blog:  starting out, you want to mate your favored Adults to combine their potential Talents/Derby Skills.  It seems that Gift Card Pets with Variable Boosts* start out as Adults in order to provide the correct bonuses as they did before Pet Updates.

*Variable boosts are Talents in which value changes as your pet's stats increase.  For example, the Gift Card Pet Defender Pig gives Spell-Proof, which is a Variable universal Resist, of 6%.  Had it started out as a Baby, it would provide you with only 1%, due to low Strength, Agility, and Power combined.  But, as a default, the Pig started out as an Adult, with 150 Strength, Agility, and Power each (all of which affect Resist), providing me the 6% it normally gave before the Pet Updates!

Note:  It's best to leave the pet that will take the longest to reach its goal on your "Farmers."  Pets requiring more experience will need Snacks just to keep pace with your younger pets, and we want to avoid making more transfers than we have to.

The point here is to take the standard pace you're allowed for training onto many pets at a time, especially if they are First Generation. That way, you can begin mating as soon as possible and discover if you managed to get the skills you want manifested.

In summary:

  • Look at all of your pets' Talents/Skills
  • Pick out which skills you would like to have in the next generation
  • Give each of your characters a pet with each skill you favor; if it takes a long time for the pet to level, give it to a character that will farm for Hatchery gold
  • Train each pet everyday.  It takes 10 minutes to refill one PE, so in one hour, you will have 6 PE, and in 8 hours you will have 48 (max).
Happy Hunting!

Connecting AutumnalDusk with Celestia (?)

Updated April 21, 2010 @ 12:08 PM:

I woke up to a barrage of confusion, mystery, and wonder today, mainly due to my "late" arrival to Wizard101 about four-and-a-half months ago.  A player/blogger named AutumnalDusk (AD) has made a surprise return, and with that came the excitement from other bloggers who knew and knew of her.  From what I was able to find out in about an hour of research (yes, I'm writing this before I head off to work...I apologize for the haste, but the earlier I get this out, the more I may find when I return), she is a detailed writer and gamer analyst, with length of posts similar to what few bloggers of the Spiral have (hint hint).  I know I'm looking forward to reading more of her work in the following days; she also explores beyond the game...heck, it looks like she explores beyond the activity of gaming as well!

The feeling of ambiguity started when I laid my eyes on the picture included in her post: the same Celestia desktop image that was released this month, but now with a new figure added.  Has no one else looked at the background image until AD posted, or does she have anything to do with the picture, whether it means picture editing or official business with KingsIsle?  The Friendly Necromancer did mention that her absence until now lasted around eight months.  Again, being relatively new in the community and lacking the necessary time to search, I'm ignorant to what led to her temporary separation from the game.  But the photo does make me wonder:  is this AD's unique and interesting way of telling the community that along with Celestia's opening, she would be in full production again?  Is that her character's silhouette, donning a supposedly new pair of wings she recently purchased?  Or is that KingsIsle's official image with an addition?

Secondly, almost on a different branch, but related to the slightly ominous presence of the new silhouette:  With the assumption that the picture on AD's blog is an official KingsIsle release, has anyone suggested--especially with idea that there are possible Marleybonians in the picture--that there could be some genetic splicing involved in the new world?  With the Pet Hatchery coming, and KingsIsle's announcement that we'll be able to customize our pets extensively ("millions" of combinations), doesn't that sound like chromosomal modification?  Disregarding the art of magic, what if our Wing Mounts were actually materialized through the art of science?  Perhaps some twisted scientist had the audacity to go underground and combine the DNA strands of existing creatures such as the Seraph and the Bloodbat to human wizards.  Heck, I think it's very probable, considering that we'll soon have the ability to combine two creatures of different species with one another through unnatural(?) breeding techniques.

Now, let's explore these two questions when they're blended together:  What if the post AwesomeDiviners (AweDiv) made today turned out to be true?  This idea will consider AD is related to KingsIsle in some way, especially given that her blog is dubbed "Homework in a Graveyard."  Has AD been resurrected and featured in the image?  But, it could be that I'm overanalyzing...perhaps AweDiv just wanted to make an announcement through some symbolism in regards that AD is of the Death class, and that her return is based on the coming of the Seventh World.

This is all my random speculating and contemplating rambled into one giant mess, but it makes some sense...right?  Time to speed to accounting "internship"!  BAH!

Happy hunting!

P.S.  When I return, I will be correcting this blog to include necessary links for referencing
